In the early morning hours of December 10, 2023, Tyshea Howard, a 28-year-old female, was tragically killed in a shooting in North Philadelphia. The incident occurred shortly before 4:15 a.m. on the 2200 block of North Chadwick Street during a party. Howard, a mother of three, was known in her community as a hardworking woman who held multiple jobs, including at a nursing home and a supermarket, to provide for her family.
The shooting erupted following a dispute between two men at the
party. It is believed that Howard was caught in the crossfire when the argument escalated to gunfire. She was struck in the back. Another individual, 32-year-old Jerome Jones, was also shot multiple times and killed. Two other men, ages 36 and 45, who were arriving at the party, were wounded by stray bullets but were reported to be in stable condition.
Howard and Jones were both transported to Temple University Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries a short time later. Remembered as a vibrant and loving person who was always willing to help others, her death has left a significant void in the lives of her family and friends. She was one of eight siblings and was described as the type of person who would give you the shirt off her back.
As of late 2023, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting. The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating the incident and has urged anyone with information to come forward. A reward of $20,000 has been offered for information that leads to the conviction of a suspect. Detectives are still working to determine the cause of the initial argument that led to the deadly shooting.
