Two unidentified gunmen fired over 50 rounds into a crowd of approximately 15 to 20 individuals, many of whom were students. The assailants used at least one automatic weapon during the attack.
Seventeen-year-old Dayemen Taylor, a junior at Imhotep Institute Charter High School, was struck multiple times and succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Two other male teenagers, aged 14 and 15, sustained graze wounds and were treated at the hospital in stable condition. Additionally, two women aboard the SEPTA Route 6 bus were injured: a 71-year-old woman was shot in the head, and a 50-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her forearm; both were reported in stable condition.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel indicated that the attack appeared targeted, with Taylor as the intended victim. Surveillance footage released by the Philadelphia Police Department shows two suspects: one wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the phrase "DON'T GET EMOTIONAL IT'S ONLY BROKEN PROMISES" on the back, and the other in a light-colored hooded jacket. Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this incident. Authorities are actively seeking information from the public to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
