On March 23, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a double shooting occurred on the 1200 block of Rising Sun Avenue in North Philadelphia. Joshua Hester, a 21-year-old resident of Philadelphia, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m. Another 21-year-old man was also injured in the incident, suffering a gunshot wound to his upper lip; he was hospitalized and listed in stable condition.
