On April 8, 2024, Christy Reeves, 50, and her companion, William Rabatin, 53, were found fatally shot in a residence on Great Oak Drive in Scott Township, Pennsylvania. Authorities responded to a welfare check around 2:50 a.m., discovering both victims with gunshot wounds; they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations identified the suspect as 50-year-old Dennis Rahuba, who had been in a long-term relationship with Reeves.
According to Allegheny County Police, Reeves was ending her relationship with Rahuba and had begun a new one with Rabatin. Rahuba allegedly entered Rabatin's home through an unlocked back door and shot both victims before fleeing the scene.
After the incident, Rahuba contacted his adult children to inform them of his actions; they subsequently alerted the authorities. Law enforcement tracked Rahuba's vehicle and, around 7 a.m., deputies from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office in West Virginia located it traveling southbound on Interstate 77 near Charleston. When officers attempted a traffic stop, they heard a single gunshot from the vehicle. SWAT officers approached and found Rahuba deceased inside from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The tragic event underscores the potential dangers associated with domestic disputes, particularly when relationships end, and new ones begin. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case to provide closure for the victims' families and the community.
