A 64-year-old man named Bryant Boyd was killed in a shooting in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, on June 13, 2024. The incident took place shortly before 12:45 a.m. outside of Cal's Cantina on Eden Park Boulevard. Friends of Boyd, who was from Duquesne, described him as a 'genuinely good person, a dad and grandfather' with a 'heart to match' his large stature.
He was part of a car club and was known by the nickname “Big B.”
On the night of his death, Boyd had told a friend he was going to get something to eat at one of his favorite places. As he was leaving Cal's Cantina, two people got out of a car, ran toward him, and shot him multiple times. First responders found Boyd deceased at the scene. Investigators with the Allegheny County Police Department have stated they do not believe Boyd was the intended target of the shooters.
The suspects fled the scene in a maroon Chevrolet Malibu that was later recovered in North Versailles. The vehicle had been reported stolen from McKeesport a week before the shooting. Police have released surveillance video showing the two armed individuals in the hopes of identifying them and the driver of the getaway car. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Boyd's family has pleaded for anyone with information to come forward to help bring them justice and peace.
