On August 10, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Pittsburgh police responded to a two-round ShotSpotter alert on the 7400 block of Idlewild Street in the Homewood North neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 34-year-old Soner Yilmaz lying on the sidewalk outside a vehicle, having sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
