On the afternoon of October 18, 2024, a tragic event unfolded in a home on Waldo Street in New Castle, Pennsylvania, that ended the life of 44-year-old Terry B. Micco. A witness inside the residence heard gunshots and ran to see what had happened. He found Micco bleeding on the ground as two men fled the scene. Emergency services were called, and Micco was rushed to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital Trauma Unit, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators with the New Castle Police Department and the Lawrence County District Attorney's Office immediately began a tenacious investigation into the shooting. Their efforts, with assistance from the Sharon Police Department, quickly led them to two suspects, Jason Jones Jr. and Louis Brewer. Both men were arrested in November 2024 and are facing charges of homicide, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.
The motive for the shooting appears to be a drug-related robbery. Court documents revealed that suspected drugs, cash, and a cellphone were discovered in Micco's truck. According to an affidavit, Jones confessed to police that he and Brewer had gone to the Waldo Street house to meet Micco because Brewer had said Micco 'had bricks,' a term often used to describe a large quantity of drugs. Jones claimed that there were other people and a gun in the house and that he felt he had to defend himself. He admitted to shooting Micco as he was walking out the back door. Jones also stated that he saw Brewer take some drugs from Micco after he was shot, though he was unsure what was taken.
