On October 26, 2024, at approximately 11:04 p.m., Philadelphia Police responded to a shooting incident on the 3600 block of North 5th Street in the city's Franklinville section. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Zenon Ramos Jr. lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body. Tragically, medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
A second victim, a 33-year-old Hispanic male, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to Temple University Hospital for treatment. Investigators recovered over 40 pieces of ballistic evidence from the scene, including 36 shell casings, indicating the severity of the attack. Additionally, a vehicle and a nearby home were struck by gunfire, though no other injuries were reported.
Witnesses reported that three to four men approached Ramos Jr. at close range and opened fire before fleeing the scene. Inspector D.F. Pace described the crime as particularly heinous, noting that the assailants appeared to continue shooting while in close proximity to the victim. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large. Authorities are actively reviewing surveillance footage from the area to identify the perpetrators. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
