On February 5, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Durham Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Fay Street and Juniper Street in Durham, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they found 38-year-old Gregory Randolph Newsome suffering from a gunshot wound. Newsome was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
