On the evening of February 21, 2023, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Durham police responded to a shooting near the intersection of Holloway Street and Hardee Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men inside a vehicle, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Durham resident Montique Shawn Palmer, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services.
