In 1992, his family relocated to Vanceboro, North Carolina, where he attended West Craven High School. Lovett later settled in Greenville, North Carolina, with his wife, Betty Wright, and their children. He pursued a career as an electrician, working with Wilson Rhodes Heating & Air Conditioning.
