On August 27, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 500 block of Old Landing Road in Maxton, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 55-year-old Phillip Locklear, a resident of Longs, South Carolina, deceased from a gunshot wound.
