Tyrell McDonald, a 22-year-old African American male from Maxton, NC, tragically lost his life on August 21, 2016. McDonald was attending a party at Sarah’s Place on South Patterson Street when a fight broke out and shots were fired. Deputies found him lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to administer CPR, McDonald was pronounced dead at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
McDonald was a former standout athlete at Purnell Swett High School, where he played football
and basketball. He was known for his talent and was named to The Robesonian’s All-County football team during his junior year. His coaches and peers remembered him as a respectful and fun-loving individual.
During the incident, a 37-year-old woman named Kissie Braddy was also shot and injured but was treated and released from the hospital. No other injuries were reported. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with McDonald’s death, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
