On January 1, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 800 block of John L. Road in Maxton, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Cashley Carl Scott deceased in his yard from gunshot wounds.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested 26-year-old Joseph N. Locklear of Maxton, charging him with first-degree murder in connection with Scott's death. Locklear was taken into custody a ...
