On January 1, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 800 block of John L. Road in Maxton, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Cashley Carl Scott deceased in his yard from gunshot wounds.
