On August 28, 2023, 36-year-old Christopher Marcellus McKinnon was found deceased in a ditch near 2126 Pony Farm Road in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Responding to a 911 call at approximately 11:53 p.m., deputies from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office discovered McKinnon had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots in the vicinity around the time of the incident.
