On July 12, 2025, 22-year-old Trevon Wise, a male from Jacksonville, North Carolina, was shot and rushed to Onslow Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Investigators determined the gunfire happened inside a vehicle near Huff Drive and Pine Valley Road, a residential area on the city's west side. The violence spilled from that moving scene when the suspected gunman jumped out and fled on foot, leaving the wounded Trevon Wise behind as the car's grim journey ended at the hospital.
