On January 3, 2024, 18-year-old Christian Peterson tragically lost his life in a shooting incident outside the 53 Mini Mart and Tobacco Shop on Burgaw Highway in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The Onslow County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting the shooting and, upon arrival, discovered Peterson and 19-year-old Kalib Bostick deceased at the scene.
