The investigation revealed that the perpetrator of this heinous crime was Jordan Tyshone Meade, the 24-year-old grandson of Emmitt Jordan Hawks Sr. and Geraldine A. Hawks. Meade was also responsible for the death of his mother, Jackqueline Meade, aged 48, who was found dead next door. All three victims were shot in the head, and the murders were discovered on March 26, 2020.
Jordan Tyshone Meade was arrested and charged with three counts of murder. He pled guilty to all charges and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. Additionally, Meade faced charges of larceny for stealing a gun and a vehicle, which resulted in additional sentences of 6-17 months. The stolen vehicle, a burgundy 2019 Ford Explorer, was later recovered in Burlington, North Carolina.
The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Ernie Lee, and the defense attorneys for Meade were Emily Byrum and Cecilia Reyna. The investigation was conducted by the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, which responded to the scene after receiving a report of an abandoned vehicle.
