On October 8, 2023, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Greenville police responded to a call regarding suspicious activity in the 900 block of Tyson Street. A concerned individual had noticed blood on a trash container. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 35-year-old Antonio Bond of Windsor inside the trash can. The circumstances of his death appeared unnatural, prompting authorities to initiate a homicide investigation.
An autopsy later confirmed that Bond died from a gunshot wound to the torso. As the investigation progressed, detectives identified 39-year-old Greenville resident Tyrell Best as a suspect. On October 11, 2023, Best was arrested and charged with murder in connection to Bond's death. He was subsequently taken to the Pitt County Detention Center.
