Reggie Donnell Tyson, a 27-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on October 15, 2017, in Greenville, North Carolina. Reggie was born on November 29, 1989, in Pitt County and attended North Pitt High School. At the time of his death, he was enrolled at Pitt Community College. Reggie was shot and killed in the 100 block of Kristin Drive shortly before 4:30 a.m. on October 15, 2017.
The investigation into Reggie's death initially yielded few leads.
However, new evidence eventually led to the arrest of three suspects: Jamal Byron Phillips, 30, Armard Dontrall Fennell, 28, and Justin Ross Summerville, 33. Phillips was charged with one count of murder, while Fennell and Summerville faced charges of accessory to murder. The arrests were the result of a coordinated effort by the Greenville Police Department’s Violent Crimes Apprehension Team, Major Crimes Unit, Gun Violence Reduction Unit, and members of the GPD Emergency Response Team.
