On October 26, 2023, at approximately 12:41 a.m., Sampson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call reporting multiple bodies at a residence located at 10310 Garland Highway, about 10 miles south of Clinton, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered five individuals, including 58-year-old Lamar Williams of Rose Hill, all deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victims were identified as:
- **Alfonza Jeffers**, 73, of Clinton
- **Dagoberto Lopez**, 33, of Garland
- **Hector Salazar Lopez**, 39, of Garland
- **Lamar Williams**, 58, of Rose Hill
- **Jamie Lynn Rowland** (also known as Jamie Thompson), 47, of Clinton
Investigators noted that each victim was found in separate bedrooms within the residence. The Sampson County Sheriff's Office indicated that the home was known to authorities for potential drug-related activities and described the incident as a targeted attack.
Nearly a year later, in October 2024, two individuals were indicted in connection with the murders:
- **Robert Andrew Daquan Williams** (also known as "Double Tap Drew"), 31
- **Derrick George** (also known as "Pete"), 35
Both men were charged with:
- Conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine
- Conspiracy to commit a Hobbs Act robbery
- Hobbs Act robbery
- Discharging a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
Additionally, Robert Williams faced a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. If convicted, both could face life imprisonment or the death penalty.
The investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly planned to rob the occupants of the Garland Highway residence, targeting drugs and drug proceeds. The case was significantly advanced by tips from concerned citizens, highlighting the community's role in aiding law enforcement efforts.
