On September 21, 2024, Joseph Melvin, a 37-year-old resident of Roseboro, North Carolina, was fatally shot outside New Image Barbershop located at 1303 Beaman Street in Clinton. The incident occurred around 12:59 p.m., following an argument that escalated into gunfire. Melvin was transported by private vehicle to Sampson Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
