On June 30, 1998, 69-year-old Samuel Gilbert Jr. was found stabbed to death in his office at the Waikiki Whaler apartment building in Honolulu. Gilbert, the owner of Kapuni Developers and property manager for the building, was apparently killed during a robbery attempt. His body was discovered in the second-floor office, and despite an investigation, no suspects were identified, and no arrests have been made in connection to the case.
