On January 6, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Raleigh Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Checkmate Lounge, located at 2200 East Millbrook Road in Raleigh, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims inside the establishment, both suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as 27-year-old Christian Johnson, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a ...
