On December 29, 2015, 49-year-old Hoang Van Nguyen was found murdered in his Chinatown apartment on North Hotel Street, Honolulu. Nguyen, a cook at Bac Nam restaurant, was last seen alive on December 24, 2015. He had been assaulted and strangled to death. Despite an investigation into his murder, no suspects have been identified, and the case remains unsolved.
