On March 29, 2024, at approximately 11:42 p.m., Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire and Rescue responded to a reported shooting in the 500 block of Haven Street in Washington, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Jimmy Lee Ruffin Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate medical attention, Ruffin was pronounced dead at the scene.
