On May 4, 2024, at approximately 3:11 a.m., Fayetteville police responded to reports of shots fired in the 5300 block of Ramsey Street, near Methodist University. Upon arrival, they found 21-year-old Jonah Malik Taylor, a Fort Liberty soldier and father of two, with gunshot wounds. Taylor was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center by a personal vehicle, where he succumbed to his injuries.
