Joshua Reddick, a 19-year-old African American male from Greenville, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on October 10, 2021, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Gillespie Street near Owen Drive. Joshua, along with 18-year-old Devon Hargrove, was found dead following an overnight shooting that resulted in a car crash. The two young men were traveling in a vehicle when someone, possibly from another vehicle, opened fire on their car. The car subsequently crashed, leading to their deaths at the scene.

The Fayetteville Police Department launched an investigation into the double homicide. Nearly two weeks after the incident, Kurtis Trashone Williams, a 32-year-old African American male, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle. Williams was already out on bail for a previous shooting incident involving his ex-girlfriend, which had occurred in July 2021. The court documents revealed that Williams had been free on a $20,000 bail at the time of the killings.

The investigation revealed that Williams allegedly shot at Reddick and Hargrove's vehicle as he drove down Gillespie Street in his own vehicle. Traffic cameras captured a car chase between Williams' white Dodge Charger and the victims' Nissan Altima shortly before the fatal shootings. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and investigators do not believe that Williams knew either Reddick or Hargrove. Williams is currently being held at the Cumberland County jail without bail.

Joshua Reddick's death has left a profound impact on his family and community. He was remembered as a loving individual who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The investigation into his death continues, and the Fayetteville Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward.
