On July 22, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a tragic incident occurred in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte, North Carolina. Elijah Johnthan Wright, a 21-year-old resident of Charlotte, was found shot inside an apartment in the 8900 block of Rachel Freeman Way. Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) responded to a shots fired call and discovered Wright suffering from gunshot wounds.
