On July 23, 2024, 31-year-old Jasman Marrell Peele was reported missing from her residence near Jackson, North Carolina. She was last seen by her immediate family around 6:43 a.m. at their home along U.S. Highway 158, wearing a black shirt. Standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing approximately 195 pounds, her disappearance prompted an immediate search by the Northampton County Sheriff's Office.
Tragically, later that day, around 5:15 p.m., authorities discovered Jasman's body in a wooded area approximately 300 feet behind her residence. She had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office noted that there were no immediate signs of foul play at the scene. He stated, "We are not confirming what cause of death is at this time. The investigation is ongoing."
Following the discovery, the Sheriff's Office continued its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jasman's death. As of now, there have been no reports of arrests or identification of suspects related to the case. The authorities have not provided further details, and the community remains in anticipation of any updates regarding the investigation.
Jasman was a resident of Seaboard, North Carolina. Her funeral services were held on August 3, 2024, at Northampton County High School in Gaston, followed by her burial at the Peele Family Cemetery in Rich Square.
