Blondell Green, a 57-year-old woman from Washington, NC, tragically lost her life on July 10, 2015. She was fatally shot by her daughter's boyfriend, Jaquay Hill, 25, in what police have determined to be a murder-suicide. The incident occurred shortly after midnight in the 300 block of East 13th Street. Hill shot Green before taking his own life a short distance away from her home.
Shanequa Wallace, Green's daughter, revealed that Hill had been abusive throughout their nine-month relationship. She had been staying at a battered woman's shelter at the time of the shooting. Hill had previously threatened to kill himself if Wallace ever left him. Wallace's son was also in the house during the shooting and suffered injuries from shotgun pellets but was reported to be in fair condition.
The Washington Police Department investigated the case and concluded that it was a domestic dispute that turned deadly. No other suspects were involved, and no further arrests or litigations were pursued as Hill died at the scene.
Green was remembered as a hard-working, religious woman who had just left church before the incident. Her funeral was held on July 18, 2015, at Holy Ghost Deliverance Church in Grimesland.
