On October 5, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., 50-year-old Demetrius Allen, known affectionately as "Big Meech," was fatally shot during a card game at the East Side Flats apartments on Trousdale Drive in east Charlotte, North Carolina. The newly constructed complex, intended as affordable housing, became the scene of a tragic incident that also left another individual injured with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
