On January 17, 2023, at approximately 3:10 p.m., 40-year-old Billy Jean Hippolyte was fatally shot near the intersection of East 83rd Street and Flatlands Avenue in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Emergency responders arrived to find Hippolyte with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
