In the morning hours of March 27, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace at the Ingersoll Houses in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn. When the chaos subsided, 33-year-old Shawn Myers, a male resident of Brooklyn, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred around 11:10 a.m. near a fence on Monument Walk within the housing complex.
Witnesses reported hearing four to five shots before Myers collapsed.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported him to Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead. Another man, 21-year-old Quadire Session, was also injured in the shooting, sustaining a gunshot wound to his left hand. He was taken to the same hospital for treatment and was expected to survive.
