On February 7, 2023, the body of 19-year-old DeAndre Matthews was discovered on freight train tracks near 2236 Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn. His body exhibited significant burns and a gunshot wound to the head, with signs of smoke inhalation. Matthews had been reported missing the previous day after borrowing his mother's SUV and failing to return home.
