In the Red Hook Houses of Brooklyn, a burst of violence on the morning of February 9, 2023, ended the life of 49-year-old Jason Andrades, a Hispanic male resident of the NYCHA complex. The fatal encounter occurred around 9:25 a.m. at 131 Lorraine St., where Andrades was shot in the left leg.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Andrades unconscious and unresponsive.
Emergency medical services were dispatched and transported him to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
