On the night of March 31, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the relative calm of an Astoria, Queens street, leaving two young men dead. One of the victims was 22-year-old Xavier Roberts, a resident of the Bronx. The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. in front of 24-15 Steinway Street, near the intersection with Astoria Boulevard. Roberts and his companion, 21-year-old Jaheim Hamilton, were walking together when they were ambushed by three individuals.
