Claudia had a passion for life, enjoying running track, dancing, and styling hair. Her caring nature was evident in her aspiration to one day become a nurse.
She was a cherished member of the Jamaica community in Queens, New York.
On the evening of May 10, 2023, Claudia was sitting in a parked car with a friend on Lucas Street in St. Albans, near a school playground. At around 8:30 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the night. In what investigators believe was a shootout between two groups, a stray bullet struck Claudia in the head. She was not the intended target. Emergency services rushed her to a local hospital, where she fought for her life for nearly two weeks. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Claudia succumbed to her injuries on May 22, 2023, leaving her family and community devastated.
The New York Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into Claudia's senseless death. Authorities have identified three young men as suspects in connection with the fatal shooting and have released surveillance footage of them walking in the area after the incident. A substantial reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her death. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
