On January 10, 2023, 23-year-old Alexa Ruiz was found dead in her Maspeth, Queens, apartment. Responding to a wellness check requested by her father, police discovered Ruiz in her first-floor bedroom with a fatal gunshot wound to the back of her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
