In the early evening of Saturday, May 27, 2023, the life of 51-year-old Jacquette Holley was tragically cut short inside an apartment building on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, New York. Around 8:00 p.m., a single, fatal gunshot to the head ended her life at the scene. The weapon used was an illegal shotgun.
The investigation led by the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad identified Jamin Haygood, a 22-year-old also known as 'Scrap,' as the individual responsible for Holley's death.
Following the investigation, Haygood was brought before the justice system to answer for his actions.
On March 22, 2024, Jamin Haygood pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class 'B' violent felony. Subsequently, on the morning of May 30, 2024, State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller sentenced Haygood, who was noted as a second violent felony offender. He received a sentence of 12 years in prison, which will be followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.
