Jamie Norton, a 19-year-old woman who was White, was killed in the early hours of August 5, 2009, after gunfire erupted on Buffalo’s East Side. The shooting unfolded around 2 a.m. outside a two-story home on Hirschbeck Street in the Broadway–Bailey area, turning a quiet block lined with vacant lots and overgrown lawns into a chaotic crime scene.
