Davion Jyrese Parker, an 18-year-old from Peoria, Illinois, died on February 16, 2023, due to injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. The incident occurred on February 11, 2023, when Parker was shot in the head. Peoria police responded to a report of shots fired in the 3400 block of W. Oakcrest and found Parker in a vehicle left in the middle of the road with the fatal injury.
Parker was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced brain dead on Thursday, February 16, 2023. An autopsy was scheduled following organ donation.
The investigation into Parker's death led to the identification of two suspects: 21-year-old Donte T. Agnew and 25-year-old Torreon Carey. On November 9, 2023, Agnew was arrested in Crown Point, Indiana, and extradited back to Peoria County, where he was charged with First Degree Murder. As of the latest reports, Carey remains at large. Police described Carey as a black male, approximately 5’6” tall, weighing 140 pounds, with long black and red hair, and brown eyes.
Davion Jyrese Parker was born on February 27, 2004, in Saint Louis, Missouri, to David Parker and his mother. His death marked the second reported homicide in Peoria for the year 2023.
