It was October 8, 2023, at approximately 11:15 a.m., when the sound of gunfire erupted near the intersection of North Swan Street and Third Street. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered evidence of a shooting and soon learned that Charleston had been struck by the gunfire.
He was rushed to Albany Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased later that day.
The investigation into Charleston's death suggested that this was not a random act of violence.
