In the afternoon of November 26, 2023, a life was tragically cut short in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. Rayshawn Hines, a 17-year-old Black male, was near the intersection of Chester Street and Livonia Avenue when he was fatally shot in the head. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. under the elevated 3 subway line. Emergency personnel rushed the young man to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
