Death by Force

On January 7, 2024, Richard Reed, a 35-year-old resident of the Farragut Houses in Downtown Brooklyn, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the lobby of 234 Sands Street, part of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) development. Responding to a 911 call, police officers found Reed with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was immediately transported to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
