In the winter of 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening quiet in a Brooklyn housing complex, leaving a family to grapple with a sudden and devastating loss. On a Sunday night in early January, 35-year-old Richard Reed was in the lobby of a Farragut Houses building on Sands Street when he was tragically shot multiple times in the chest.
