In the early afternoon of a Monday in Milwaukee, the life of a young man full of promise was tragically cut short. Raymond Joseph Colon, a 20-year-old Black/African American male, was fatally wounded in a shooting on March 15, 2021. The incident occurred around 1:34 p.m. in the 7100 block of North 76th Street. When the sound of gunfire subsided, another young man, aged 21, was also found to have been shot, though his injuries were not life-threatening and he was taken to a local hospital for
treatment. For Raymond, however, the wounds proved fatal.
Born in Milwaukee on May 17, 2000, Raymond was known for his passion for basketball, a love that began at the age of five and became a central part of his life. He was remembered as a polite, humble, and kind individual who was deeply loved by his family and friends. A graduate of Waukesha North High School, Raymond was a father to a young son. His sudden death sent ripples of grief through his community, leaving behind a family to mourn the loss of a son, father, and friend.
In the wake of the shooting, the Milwaukee Police Department launched an investigation into the double shooting. The circumstances that led to the tragic event remain under investigation. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the killing of Raymond Colon, and no arrests have been announced. The police have continued to seek unknown suspects and have asked for anyone with information to come forward.
