On June 15, 2024, 16-year-old Diego Francisco Herrera-Mejia was tragically killed in a shooting on Milwaukee's south side. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the 900 block of West Manitoba Street, where Diego and two other teenagers were struck by gunfire. Diego sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest and was transported to Froedtert Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m.
