On a tragic Saturday evening in Milwaukee, a sweet sixteen birthday celebration ended in heartbreak and violence. Just three days after turning 16, Diego Francisco Herrera-Mejia, a Hispanic male, was shot and killed on June 15, 2024. The senseless act of violence that claimed his life also took that of his best friend, 15-year-old Isaac Rodriguez. The two boys were fatally shot near 9th and Manitoba on the city's south side, shortly after leaving Diego's birthday party.
