On March 7, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., 17-year-old Bronx resident Laquai Dash was fatally shot near 762 Cauldwell Avenue in the Melrose neighborhood. Responding to multiple 911 calls, NYPD officers found Dash with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.
