In the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, a 27-year-old Black male named Antoine Ruffin was fatally shot on the evening of July 16, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 7:41 p.m. near a Family Dollar store on Franklin Avenue. Responding to a 911 call, police discovered Ruffin with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
Reports indicate that the shooting stemmed from an argument that took place
outside the store. Ruffin, a resident of Queens and a father of three, had reportedly left a family gathering to meet a friend in Brooklyn shortly before the fatal encounter. His family described him as a hardworking individual and stated that he was not involved in any street disputes.
As of now, the investigation into Antoine Ruffin's death remains ongoing. The New York Police Department has not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Authorities are continuing to seek information from the public that may lead to the apprehension of the individual or individuals responsible for this homicide.
