Detective Donald Rolker, aged 42, tragically lost his life on November 27, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. He was off-duty at the time and traveling on a subway train when he was confronted by four men attempting to rob him at gunpoint. In the ensuing struggle, Detective Rolker managed to return fire, injuring one of the assailants in the leg.
